Foundation Subjects

Physical Education

Physical education provides opportunities for children to develop their skills, explore and express themselves through movement and enjoy physical exercise. They enjoy working together in pairs or larger groups, developing a sense of team membership.

PSHE
(Personal, Social and Health Education and Citizenship).

Values Education is adopted as a whole school approach. A different value is chosen each month and promoted across the school curriculum and in assemblies.

Children are encouraged through stories, discussion, role play and games, to understand the consequences of actions for actions for other people, themselves and the environment. They are taught the importance of maintaining a healthy and active life style.

Children are taught responsibility and citizenship. We have an active school council, with two elected members from each class.

Although these lessons are timetabled and taught explicitly through the curriculum, the values are implicit across the curriculum and through all interactions with the children.
Religious Education

Religious education is statutory in the curriculum for all pupils. Responsibility, regard for all people and moral values underpin all religious education. Following the Bedfordshire Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education, children learn about the cultures and religious practices of people in the wider community including Christianity. Developing such knowledge and awareness is vital for them to have an understanding of the different cultures within society.

Parents may wish to withdraw their children from religious education or collective worship. Parents wishing to exercise their right of withdrawal are invited to discuss the matter with the Head teacher before requesting this in writing.
.
Music

Children experience a range of activities that encourage enjoyment of, listening to and making music. They learn to recognise and use changes in volume, pitch and speed and to explore the use of voice, rhythm and instruments when composing. Singing takes place regularly in classes and weekly for the whole school.

Parents may wish to withdraw their children from religious education or collective worship. Parents wishing to exercise their right of withdrawal are invited to discuss the matter with the Head teacher before requesting this in writing.
