Arrival and Collection from School
The staff and governors feel strongly that children of lower school age should be escorted to and from school.
The Start of the Day
Key stage 1 children and Willow class
Parents wait with children outside the entrance to the classroom. The class teacher opens the door for the children at 9am. Although parents remain outside, so school can begin promptly, brief messages can be given to the teacher and meetings can be arranged for the end of the school day. You can also pass messages and information via the school office.
Key stage 2
A teacher is on duty in the playground at 8.50am. The whistle goes at 8.55am. The children stand still and quietly and are sent into school one class at a time.
We encourage the children to become more independent as they move into key stage 2. Please will parents leave the playground once a teacher is on duty, it is only 5 minutes before the children go inside. This also helps the duty teacher maintain quiet after the whistle and see clearly where the children are.
End of Day Collection
Key stage 1
Children are collected from the classroom exits. Please stand back from the door so the teacher can see you clearly and children can walk easily to their parents.
If someone different will be collecting your child, fill in the sheet displayed in the classroom window on that morning and make sure your child knows about the arrangement.
Key stage 2
At 3.35pm children will be dismissed from their classes. The class teacher will supervise them leaving the building. Please ensure your child knows who will be collecting them and send a note in to the teacher if the usual arrangement changes. Children are expected to return to their teacher if they are either not collected or someone they are not expecting is there for them.
All children
We understand that occasionally parents are unexpectedly delayed at the end of the school day. If you are delayed please contact the school as soon as possible so a message can be given to your child's teacher.
Teachers will wait for 10 minutes after the end of the school day before trying to contact parents/guardians. We will supervise children for a reasonable period of time until they are collected.
Parents are responsible for arranging transport home for their children following after school activities.
Teachers will not be able to give lifts to children in their cars.
Ultimately, if there has been no message and we are unable to contact parents or guardians, after a resonable time the Headteacher may make a decision to contact the police or social services.
