The School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme is a major Government initiative to improve the diets of children and as from the 4th November, Shefford Lower will be able to take part. This means that all children in Nursery, Year 1 and Year 2 will receive a whole piece of fresh fruit or vegetable each day. Initially, the scheme will involve apples, pears, bananas, satsumas, carrots and cherry tomatoes but other varieties will be introduced throughout the year as Spring and Summer seasonal products become available.
